We finally got to learn about the ministry we're doing! The way this works is that our whole squad is split into four teams of 6 and our teams will rotate ministries weekly. The four different planned ministries are 1) doing a creative project for tony and his family on the property 2) spending a week to serve and reach out to people in Los Penos which is one of the poorest areas of the city where many of the Honduran boys living with us came from. 3) teaching English at a bilingual school and 4) living in "the village" with tonys wife to do street ministry and service projects. My team starts our project on the property Monday. In the meantime we're spending a day in the city today and my team is leading church Sunday.

As for me personally, I've just been helping Elliott and Brian out with the garden and hanging out with these Honduran boys. Ive fallen in love with this 7 year old kid named Anderson who speaks basically no English. Ashley Higgins, our squad leader, partnered us up to do some daily bible study in Spanish and english together. I'm really excited for that! He's already been trying to teach me Spanish. That's about all I can think to write so far! Everything's going extremely well. I'll hopefully be able to post pictures and or video on our free day next Friday. Love and miss you all.

  1. Andrew, it’s good to hear how the ministry is really working with the people there, and that you are actually getting to work with the young people. One of our granddaughters and her parents worked for several weeks one summer in Nicaragua, and she, too, loved the children there. I’m sure your work will make a difference, and one of the differences will be in you. Just experiencing life in such a different way will certainly be a learning experience that you won’t forget. You have had such a great advantage in life having lived in many different cultures, but I’ll bet this is the most different experience you have had to date. May God continue to bless this work.

  2. Hi Andrew! We’ve been thinking about you & wondering how your first week is going. What kind of work are you doing? Are you sharing in the domestic chores? What kind of projects are you working on? We’re so excited for you . . . and know that you are where you are supposed to be. Take care of yourself & others, stay safe, keep your journal, and remember how much you are loved & missed!
